Walk with me
Cousins,It has been one year since my ascension to the throne. It has been a year of many trials but also many accomplishments. Two armies lost and two armies rebuilt. One rebuilt by my own hand in Dawn, another by the prosperity of Varushka, a third on the way in The League. Forays by our enemies met with a shining rebuttal of virtue and liberation in Asavea. Rebellions quelled by the art of diplomacy. Criminal acts undone by Virtuous ones. Land and homes lost and land and homes reclaimed. The list goes on.The road ahead is hard, but we are walking it together. In my inaugural address, I highlighted the need for an inextricable empire. An empire bound together by its common threads to form an unbreakable chain. I urge you now, as the dust settles on a momentous summit, to keep these words close to your heart. If we are to face what is to come we must do so together.Last summit, Earl Aramis Du Froste was murdered. He was the first senator for The Barrens. His assassination was an act of supreme cowardice. He will be remembered as a martyr for the soul of his nation. An example of a senator unflinching from the hard but Virtuous choice. As for his killers, if they are remembered at all, it will be as corpses at the feet of their betters.I ask all citizens of the Empire to heed his final call to action. To ‘throw open our doors to refugees from Therunin. To rest in our beds, to eat at our hearths, and to prepare for battles to come.’ A sentiment echoed across the Imperial Synod by Gwenllain Heart’s End of Navarr, Keziah of the Suns of Couros of Highguard, Damascius of Urizen and, crucially, Travid Longest Path, Senator for Therunin in exile.Navarr, Dawn, Urizen and Highguard have answered the call to their Imperial siblings of Therunin. I call on every citizen of the Empire to do the same. Let there be no empty beds, no food uneaten, for the Imperial Hearth is for all.Let all Imperial citizens open their doors to the displaced peoples of Therunin. Remind them that the Dance is not over. Remind them that they are Therunin and they will outlast the Druj’s grasp. Remind them that the Imperial Hearth is theirs to claim. Remind them that we have not forgotten Navarr. Now we rest and recuperate together. Tomorrow we will bleed together. And when the sun rises, we will walk the trods in Therunin together once more.Inextricable. Indefatigable. Inevitable.Emperor VesnaEmpress of the Hearth, Crowned in Thunder.Overview
Emperor Vesna has used their power to address the Empire to send a personal message to all Imperial citizens. This message relates to the ongoing situation in Therunin, and draws attention to several statements of principle that were upheld in the Synod this season.
As with other uses of this power, the civil service has ensured the message is heard by citizens across the Empire and beyond.
Significance
The Throne has the power to nominate a single Imperial citizen who can deliver a message to the people of the Empire each summit. It is common practice for the Throne to use this power themselves, when they wish to speak to all their people about important matters.
